There are offerings that differentiate between development and test hosting [Development Use Only (DUO)] on the one hand side and hosting of production applications on the other hand side.
Offerings also differentiate whether or not they include the base IBM Lotus Domino license [Commercial Pay As You Go (PAYG)] or if customers provide their own license [Commercial Bring Your Own License (BYOL)]. Offerings of providers are naturally cheaper if customers provide their own Domino licenses. Learn more about Domino licensing.
Providers also often differentiate between shared, virtual and dedicated servers. Shared servers are used by several customers at the same time which are mostly not recommended for production usage since other applications can have negative impact on applications on the same server. Virtual servers provide a full partitioned Domino server but on the same physical machine other servers are running. Dedicated servers run on their own machine and allow even access to the operating system.
